Application

GB-280 non-regenerative adsorbent is used to meet stringent product sulfur specifications in hydrocarbon and hydrogen containing streams. It is used to protect refining catalysts, such as reforming and isomerization catalysts, from poisoning by trace sulfur compounds or from process upsets that may cause higher levels of sulfur in the hydrocarbon stream. The product is effective

in sulfur compound removal over a range of operating temperatures. Potential uses include:

Sulfur guard bed for feed to a steam reforming unit
Sulfur guard bed for feed to an ammonia unit
Sulfur guard bed for light naphtha feed to an Isomerization unit

Unlike copper oxide products, GB-280 adsorbent is not susceptible to reduction up to 400 °C, hence it is designed to not produce water during start-up, and it offers the highest capacity for sulfur at elevated temperature operating conditions compared to other UOP adsorbents.
